Collective Museum, 2016

Collective Museum reimagines the entire 2000 acre University of California, Santa Cruz campus as a museum. Rather than collecting objects, we’ve collected 50 sites on campus and stories that go along with them. Each site was selected and narrated by a professor, student, graduate, or staff member and marked by a public sign. The project is comprised of many of the traditional platforms that you find in almost any museum, including a series of exhibition walls dispersed across campus, museum collection catalog, and mobile website.

The online museum collection features archival and supplemental imagery for each site, and an interview with the contributor, and link to purchase the collection catalogue on amazon.com. The mobile site allows visitors to connect to sites on campus through GPS-based map and learn about histories of the campus, of locations you might walk past everyday and otherwise not know about.
